This qualification is suitable for anyone who works regularly with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders, sports coaches and young adults. The 1 day qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind covering a range of areas and will provide the knowledge and skills to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation, and provide support and guidance to professional help
Training Outcomes (Subject to successful completion)
Understand what mental health is, why young people develop mental health conditions and the role of a first aider for mental health
Understand how to recognise and manage stress
Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions such as: Depression Anxiety Psychosis Eating disorders Suicide Self-harm Post-traumatic stress disorder Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.
Successful learners can act as a ‘First Aider for Mental Health’ in any environment which they may deal with young people.
