Our MHFA Qualifications are regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards. FAA are an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation.

The qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)

 

 

Here at ITELO TRAINING, our trainer has extensive experience in both clinical mental health, student mental health as well as a background in training and research.    We believe this wealth of knowledge and experience significantly enhances our MHFA training.   We are passionate about enabling people to feel confident about striking up a ‘supportive conversation’ and committed to reducing the stigma that prevents people from seeking the help they need.   We are therefore, delighted to announce a whole new range of Mental Health First Aid training courses.

Level 1:
Mental Health
Awareness

This 4-hour (1/2 Day) qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.

 

By the end of this short training event, learners will feel more confident to recognise when someone else is struggling, understand better how to manage emotional distress in others and have an improved understanding of where they can go to get help.

 

 Training outcomes:

  • Understand what mental health is and why mental health conditions develop,

  • Understand the role of a First Aider for mental health.

  • Understand how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition

  • Know how to recognise and manage stress

  • Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions

Level 2
Mental Health First Aid

 

This 1-Day qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. (Age 14+)

 

Training Outcomes

  • Understand what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health

  • Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition

  • Understand how to recognise and manage stress

  • Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions

  • Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health

  • Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place

  • Know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace

Level 2 YOUTH
Mental Health First Aid

This qualification is suitable for anyone who works regularly with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders, sports coaches and young adults. The 1 day qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind covering a range of areas and will provide the knowledge and skills to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation, and provide support and guidance to professional help

 

Training Outcomes (Subject to successful completion)

  • Understand what mental health is, why young people develop mental health conditions and the role of a first aider for mental health

  • Understand how to recognise and manage stress

  • Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions such as: Depression Anxiety Psychosis Eating disorders Suicide Self-harm Post-traumatic stress disorder Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place.

 

Successful learners can act as a ‘First Aider for Mental Health’ in any environment which they may deal with young people.

Level 3
Mental Health First Aid
SCOTTISH ACCREDITATION
Mental Health Awareness and First Aid 
Bespoke Training

This 2-Day qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers. You will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help.   Taking part in this training course will help you to recognise and manage stress & understand the impact of substance abuse.

Training Outcomes (Subject to successful completion) 

  • Understand what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health

  • Understand how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a suspected mental health condition

  • Know how to recognise and manage stress

  • Understand the impact of substance abuse on mental health

  • Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place

  • Know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace

  • Understand a range of mental health disorders and the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers

 

All of our courses can be delivered and accredited in Scotland.   Our Scottish candidates will receive a certificate that is accredited by the SQA
